So, it has been about forever and a half sense i had posted anything on my 'Books and more books' blog. My ideas of books have slightly changed sense my become an author myself. Not a published one mind you, but an author none the less. So far i have been stuck on Stephen King, reading his earlier novels, and his writing has been a big inspiration on myself. What i have found though is I do not write like he does, but mainly plot as he does. Stephen King has a wonderful art of dragging a story out to make it more suspenseful, and I do not. My first story, being only ten pages long, is working its way into popularity among my peers. My illiterate friends loved it, and once it moved onto my teachers, who were also thoroughly impressed, i realized that I had some potential with this writing thing.

I am now working on my second story, which is already almost as long as my first story and is still in its exposition. I found the art of action, and unlike Stephen King, is extreamly fast paced. My father, a great fan of liturater, was amazed at my abitily to write such fast pased story with enough detail for it to be easily understood. I have gotten diolog down a bit too. Though i'm still in the eariler stages of my writing carrer, i beleive that it will take me to big places in life. Now enough about me.

Once i am done with 'The Stand' by Stephen King, I will be moving on to 'The Gulag Archipelago' which is, from what i have heard, a two thousand page masterpeice. What i have found within books is a well writen story is not the only thing i love, though i do love it, i also need something long. When i find a short book i read it in a day, maybe two, because of my 20 hour a week reading trips. With vacation on the way, i need something that will keep me entertained for hours on end and wont leave me without reading matural half way through the trip. This is why i have been drawn to the 'epics' lately.

As far as shorter stories goes, i will by them three at a time. And three in the minimum. I read 'Lord of the Flys' in a single night, man that was a great book. I love the society crumbling on itself plotlines, and many others of that nature. I also read the new child's fictional book 'I Am Number Four' and thought it was okay. As far as story lines go, i love realism. The book tended to the childs 'intilectual level' more than i would have liked, and has pushed me away from reading the rest of the story. Though, it was a fun read. I read it in one day after my finals tests.

Well, thats all for now children,

Short stories

One of my biggest dilemmas in writing stories was the fact that i am not dedicated enough. I would get ten pages into my story and completely lose interest. That was when i discovered short stories.

I was always under the impression that a short story was a story, like a novel, but really short. and though this has some truths, it is false. A short story, as i have found, and stuff much more meaning into a story than any novel i read read so far has. each Short story has some underlined truth and sucks you in for he short time you are reading it.

I imagine short stories as snack sized foods. a novel is a whole three course meal, and short stories are the ice cream you eat at two in the morning while watching the news. Me, having a small appetite, had always preferred ice cream. Although a three course meal does has its advantages.

Now, instead of being a fifteen year old writer trying to write a thousand page novel, i am writing short stories and i am completely addicted.

I'm currently working on my second short story. My first one was, as far as my critics have said (critics meaning kids at school) was a success. I am happy to say that i will be enduring the writing business for awhile longer.

books and more books

I am, or I am one of the few, children at my highschool who reads for fun. when people ask me what i do for fun and i say, 'oh you know, TV, Video games, reading, running.' They usually reply with, 'You read?!?' Actually, i have gotten that responce every time. Reading in youth is becoming a lost art form. Is this a generational thing or what? if it is, were going to have a generation of iliterate adults. scary to think about isn't it? of course, we aren't really a lost cause, because of people like me and you (faithful reader).

One of my favorite authors is Stephen King. yeah, he may be running out of ideas but that usually happens when you have over 30 books published (all of them being best sellers might i add). of course, Stephen king has such a high reputation now, that even if he sold a book about a boy who found a frog, killed the frog, and the boy lived happily ever after, and another 100 pages of detail about the kids feelings after he ate the frog, the book would still be a best seller. Non the less, he is an amazing story teller.

Another skilled writer is C.S. Lewis. His chronicals of Narnia books will go down in history. Reading them as a child, i was able to picture such an amazing world. Stupid movie had to go an make it look regular. so as my favorite saying goes, 'Never judge a book by its movie'

There are hundreds apon thousands of skilled writers out there who i will not write about, but to name a few for naming a few's sake, i will name a few (that wasn't repetitive at all)
J.R. Tolken, the Left Behind series, and the Twilight series.

An after note on the twilight series, DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS MOVIE. the books are amazing, the movies sucked, plain and simple.
